The 8 Steps
We're a husband-and-wife team (and parents of three) behind Turned Yellow, a small family business that turns your favorite photos into hand-drawn yellow cartoon portraits.
You choose the details
Pick your background, number of people and pets, and shoulders up or full body. Add notes—we follow them.
We get your look right
We study your photos to capture your face, hair, glasses, and other details so you look like you—now in yellow style.
Pose & rough sketch
We set a friendly, flattering pose and sketch the big shapes—face angle, hands, clothing, and props.
Clean lines
We draw smooth, polished outlines so proportions, expressions, and clothing folds look just right.
Color & light
We color your portrait in our yellow cartoon style, then add soft light and shadow so faces look clear, not flat. Clothes and props get bold, clean color so the picture pops.
Scene & personal touches
Choose a scene — or ask for a custom background. Then we add your personal touches (favorite outfits, pets, signs, props) to make it yours.
Art quality check
A second art expert reviews likeness, lighting, and color so your first proof is already close to final.
Proof, edits, final file
You’ll get a preview in 2–3 days. Ask for changes—unlimited revisions. When you’re happy, we deliver a high‑resolution digital file, ready to print or share. Add optional prints and merch.

Photo tips (quick & easy)
Getting a great portrait starts with great photos. Here are a few quick tips to help our artists capture your best look.
- Use clear photos with good light and no heavy filters
- A slight angle (three‑quarter) is great; straight-on works too
- Include close-ups for hair, glasses, facial hair, or outfits
- Separate photos are okay—tell us who stands where
